Like many of the women I work with, I’ve spent years battling my own health struggles—from anxiety, depression, and a long history of eating disorders. At 19, I entered my first rehab center for anorexia, and over the next decade, I was in and out of treatment for various conditions, including bulimia. It wasn’t until I hit 32, during my final stint in rehab, that I knew something had to change for good.
I’d spent years running myself into the ground—yo-yo dieting, competing in fitness challenges, marathons, triathlons, and following all the “right” advice, only to end up feeling worse. On top of everything, I was coming out of an abusive marriage, suffering from PTSD, and desperate to regain control of my life.
After getting my mental health in order, I faced new challenges—extreme fatigue, swollen glands, night sweats, and weight gain that wouldn’t budge. Doctor after doctor denied or dismissed my symptoms, telling me my labs were “normal” when I knew something wasn’t right. I left countless appointments in tears, often crying alone in my car, feeling unseen, unheard, and—most of all—alone because I wasn’t getting the support I needed.
That’s when I decided to take matters into my own hands. I dove deep into research and became my own health advocate. "My mind and body were so used to either being pregnant or post-partum, I truly didn’t know what 'normal' felt like for me anymore. I had always prioritized healthy eating and being active, but being diagnosed with gestational diabetes in all three pregnancies scarred me.
